List of all 44 European Countries - Ncountries

There are 44 Countries in Europe. Out of 44 European Countries, 28 are the member states of the European Union (EU).

Europe is divided into fifty sovereign states, but 44 recognized as a  European Country because other states have a land area in more than one continent. it means they belong to two continent. Russsian federation belongs to both Asia and Europe which have the largest and most populous covering of 39 % of the continent and have 15% of its population in Europe.

Around 1850, Europe is Considered to be separate from Asia but its physical geography which makes a land border is always changing. division of Eurasia between two continents reflects the difference in culture, linguistic and ethnic difference.

The geographical border of Europe map also covers some transcontinental countries, like Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan and also Azerbaijan and Georgia.

All the countries of Europe occupy a land area of 3.9 square miles. In other words, 2% of the Earth surface area.

If we include all the countries in Europe then it has more than 744 million people. There are four Megacities in Europe which have over 10 million people. these megacities are Istanbul, Moscow, Paris, and London. Moscow is the most populous city among all Countries in Europe, while Istanbul is the most populous city but its major part come in Asia. If we consider only EU Countries, then London Covers the largest population, after that Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin.

History of Europe-

At 7000 BCE, Neolithic Europe and the Indo-European migrations (starting at 4000 BCE), There is a huge migration from east and southeast which brought Agriculture, technology, to Europe. 

Minoan and Mycenaean are the two oldest civilization in Europe. Minoan Culture gave rise to building complexes, tools, artwork, seafaring, ships. 

Mycenaean represents the first advanced Civilization in Greece.The period between the 8th century BC and the 5th or 6th century AD, Cultural history developed across the Mediterranean sea. there is two main Civilization which is growing at that time. Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome.

In the Western part of Europe, Germanic peoples become powerful and established their own kingdom and empire, after remnants of the western Roman empire. the franks dominated in whole western Europe. Later this empire was divided into the kingdom of France, the Roman empire which later becomes Germany and Italy.

In southeast Europe, the Byzantine empire, which is a part of the Roman empire survived for the next 1000 years and dominated southeast Europe.

In northern Europe, Viking Age(793-1066 AD) is a period when Normans explored Europe by its seas and river for trade, raid, and colonization. In this period, normans settle in England, Wales, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Scotland, etc. Eastern Europe was captured and dominated by the Mongol empire, which led by Genghis Khan.

In the time of late middle ages (1250 AD to 1500 AD). Mongal powers decrease in most part of the continent and grand duly of Moscow become the strongest among the Russian Republics. At late middle age, one of the famous epidemic Black death Causes many deaths in Europe, around 75 to 200 million people.

At the time of black death, many dynasty struggles and wars of conquest made many states of Europe at war. In central Europe, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth became a large empire. in Scandinavia, Kalmar union dominated the landscape, England fought with Scotland and France in wars of Scottish independence and Hundred years war. the religious wars between German Martin Luther and Spanish rulers. Also, the industrial revolution began in Europe, based on coal, steam, and mills.

The period between 1815 and 1871, many territories wants independence from their bounded empire. most of the nation fought many wars for independence, like the France-Prussian war and Crimean war that makes so many nations independent.

Geography of Europe-



European Countries

Europe is located in Northern Hemisphere and Eastern Hemisphere. It is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the North, Atlantic ocean to the west and the Mediterranean, Black and Caspian Seas to the south. The Southeast boundary of Europe with Asia is along the Ural river, to the south of Europe Mediterranean sea separates it from Africa. Europe has a Western boundary, Iceland which is nearer to Greenland. Europe has a large number of the coast as compared to landmass in comparison to other Continent. Europe covers 2 % of the Earths surface or we say it covers 6.5 % of the land area.


European Union-


The Council of Europe which is founded in 1949 with the idea of becoming united established. It includes all the states except the Vatican city, Belarus, Kazakhstan. the integration of different European States led to the formation of the European Union (EU). The European Union has an area of 4,475,757 km square and a population of about 513 million. The European Union is a union of 28 sovereign states, which has an estimated population of about 513 million.


The European Union members have developed the same standardized laws, which are applicable to all countries in the European Union. these policies ensure free movement of people, services, goods, and capital within all EU members.they also use same European Currency called 'Euro'.

Language-

Europe has about 225 different languages. Basically, there are two language groups in Europe: Romanic and Germanic.there are also some Indo-European languages such as Irish, Scottish, Manx, Cornish, Breton, Lativan. Some non-Indo-European languages are spoken in Europe such as Uralic languages, Turkic languages and Kartvelian language. Uralic language is spoken in Finland, Hungary, and Estonia.kartevelian language are spoken in Georgia.

  • Romanic language:
          
      It is a form of Italic language and it is derived from the Latia of Roman Empire. This language is spoken by 800 million people around the world, it includes Africa, Europe, America. The widest speakers of Romance language are Spanish (470 million), Portuguese (250 million), French (150 million), Italian (90 million), Romanian (25 million).
  
  • Germanic language:
         
     The Germanic language has West Germanic languages, East Germanic languages, and North Germanic languages. The East Germanic language has Gothic, Burgundian and vandalic but each of them are dead now. The North Germanic languages are Swedish, Danish, Icelandic, Faroese. The West Germanic languages are English, German and Dutch. This language is spoken natively by a population of about 515 million people. It is mainly spoken in Europe, Oceania, North America, and Southern Africa.

Religion-

In Europe, most of the population is Christian, 76.2 % of European people are Christians. The second popular religion in Europe is Islam, approx 6 % of the population is Islamic in Europe which is mainly concentrated in Eastern Europe (Albania, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, North Cyprus, Turkey). there are also some minority religions such as Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Irreligion is also strong in Europe, According to religious prospect, 18.2 % of Europe people are Secular. they are self-described,non-religious people.
