Countries in Asia: List of 48 Asian Countries (2019)

Asia has 48 Countries, in which 3 Countries are transcontinental (Countries which belong to two continent). Overall Asia has 50 States in which two states are not a member of the United Nation, so they are not counted as a Country.

Asia is the Worlds largest Continent by land area and it is the most populous continent on the earth. Asia covers 30 % of the earth total land area and 8.7 % of the Earths total surface area. Asia has 4.5 billion people, which constitute roughly about 60 % of the world's population. Russia is the largest Country in the world whose major portion belongs to Asia, which occupies 30 % of Asia.

















History of Asia-

Asia has a different region and each region have some different historic events: East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, middle east are linked by the steppes of central Asia. Humans start their life near  Coastal area around fertile river valleys. they developed a many Civilization around the river valleys like Mesopotamia, the civilization developed a process of Agriculture, making of a wheel, the process of writing, Mathematics and other innovative Ideas.

The horse-mounted nomad's people could reach any part of Asia through steppes. Steppes is a path which does not contain long trees and any river. so it's for nomads to reach anywhere in Asia by steppes. only Indo-European and Siberia are excluded from Nomad people. nomad people have a large horsebound force, due to which they Conquered states in India, China, middle east. The Mongol empire Conquered a large part of Asia starting from China to Europe in the 13th century.

After that Mongol empire had grown in entire Asia. There is also some ether empires which were developing their dynasty in Asia, Russian Empire in the 17th Century take control over most of central Asia and Siberia. the Ottoman empire Conquered Anatolia, Manchu controlled China and maintain the Qing dynasty.

Geography-

Asia is bounded by the Pacific Ocean on the east, the Indian Ocean by the south and Arctic ocean by the north. Asia and Africa's border are separated by Isthmus of  Suez and the red sea, the coast of  Eastern Mediterranian is the border between Asia and Europe. As we know Asia is divided into 48 Countries, three of them (Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey) also have their landmass in Europe.

The Asia and Europe Border does not have any physical or Geographical Separation between them. To separate Asia and Europe, we use the word Eurasia which means that it contains the land of both Continents. To separate this two continent Eurasia has a land area of both the continent, so we can easily say Eurasia is the border between these two continents.


Boundaries of Asia-

  • Asia-Africa Boundary-
            
      In Asia land area, some part which is present in three continent that is Asia, Africa, and Europe.this type of landmass is called Afro-Eurasia (both Africa and Europe). the most common boundary which separates Africa to Asia is the East of the Suez canal. The boundary between Africa and Asia is the Gulf of Suez, Red sea that makes Egypt a Transcontinental Country(Country which belongs to both Continents).

  • Asia-Europe Boundary-  
          
     The most common boundary accepted between Asia and Europe is a place to the East of Ural mountains and Ural River, and to the South of the Caspian, Black seas, separating it from Europe.

  • Asia-Oceania Boundary-         
        
   The Asia-Oceania Boundary is placed between the Maluku Islands in Indonesia, Southeast region of Asia.the term Oceania and Southeast Asia, both are derived in the 19th Century.  

Main Regions in Asia-

  • North Asia- 
          
      North Asia is also called Asia Russian because 75 % of the land is covered by Russia only. North Asia is a subregion of Asia. It has the largest land area in all subregions of Asia but it is a least populated with an approx population of about 33 million. North Asia covers 8.8 % of the earth landmass.


  • East Asia-    
       
     China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, North Korea, and South Korea comes under East Asia. It is present under eastern subregion of Asia. It has approx 1.6 billion people which makes 2.2 % of the world's population.

  • West Asia-       
        
    Western Asia includes Countries like Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, etc. It is present in the Westernmost portion of an Asia. It has approx 300 Million people in West Asia. The most populous Countries are Turkey and Iran in West Asia.

  • Central Asia- 
       
       Central Asia represents Central  Subregion of Asia, Central Asia has five Republics: Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan. Afghanistan is also a part of Central Asia but only some part of Afghanistan. It has a population of about 72 million.

  • South Asia-   
       
     The Major part of South Asia is Covered by India and it is also Comprises the Himalayan part. South Asia is used to representing the southern region of Asia. The Territories belongs to South Asia is Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Maldives, Bangladesh and Srilanka. The population of South Asia is 1.8 billion which is about one-fourth of the Worlds population.

Language-


There are Several languages which are spoken in Asia. The main family of languages in Asia are Altaic, Austroasiatic, Sino-Tibetan, Afroasiatic Dravidian, Indo-Aryan, Indo-European, Afroasiatic, Siberian, Austronesian, Sino-Tibetan, CaucasianMost Asian Countries have more than one language. For example, more than 800 languages are only spoken in India and more than 600 languages are only spoken in Indonesia, China also has different languages. In that way, Every Country in Asia Continent has more than one language.

Religion-


Major Religions which are most practiced in the World are Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Chinese folk religion and Buddhism. All these languages have originated in Asia. Jainism, Judaism, Shinto, Sikhism, Taoism, Confucianism are other famous languages in Asia. Hinduism is the oldest and second largest religion in Asia with more than 1 billion followers. Buddhism is the fourth largest region in the world and the third largest religion in Asia.
